Jean posts on Zizek. I think I have a sense of what he is saying about love's violence - the kind that seeks to possess, separate, dominate, assimmilate, organize, protect the loved object; the kind that pretends to know the other in any absolute way; the kind that fixes men and women into a patriachy-defined ideal of human subjectivity; the kind that insists on the fusion of two into one (but which one?); the kind that encloses and leaves no porous walls for fluidity; the kind that swallows the sun only for itself.
and yet...and yet, Jean...do we not, sometimes, long for a reprieve from philosophy? and all we wish for is a simple declaration of i love you?
