it only takes a few words, sometimes none even, just a piano's melancholy, to unveil what is veiled. those feelings held at bay because you can't allow them to intrude. not now, not while you are "at work." but you remember a line from Coetzee, you hear an old Beatle tune in your head and reverie takes over. you stop the memo you are writing. you allow the feelings to rise. you feel your heartbeat. you feel the tears coming on. you freeze. and then breathe deeply. you think of ... yes, that one. you wonder. and then you remind yourself not to think. what you wait for comes when it will. it does. always.
